Patricia Carlile with Robert Half Finance is seeking an ambitious Controller to become a vital part of one of her reputable clients. In this leadership position, you will direct an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. The full-time Controller position is situated in the Hillsboro, Oregon area.


  • Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis
  • Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
  • Reviews deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
  • Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation
  • Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month
  • Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
  • Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
  • Comfortable handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties
  • Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
  • Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash
  • Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required

Job Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
  • Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
  • Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued
  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively throughout all levels of the company
  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
  • Detailed and have the ability work independently
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes
  • Strong familiarity with Balance Sheet Reconciliation
  • Practical knowledge of Standard Costing
  • Proven knowledge of CapEx
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Budget forecasting experience highly desired
  • Quality experience with Standard Cost Accounting
  • KPI Reporting experience
  • Well-founded grasp of OPEX
  • General familiarity with month end closings
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
  • CPA/MBA preferred
  • Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
