Software Engineer – Windows Endpoint – Opportunity for Working Remotely Portland, OR


This is a Full-time position in Portland, OR posted July 22, 2021.

Why You Matter Our VMWare+Carbon Black team is looking for quality focused Software Engineers with experience in Windows development, automation, computer security, and development of enterprise-grade endpoint software systems.

Ideal candidates have experience with filter and file system drivers, general experience with Visual Studio, the WDK and Windbg writing code and automation in C/C++ for endpoints as well as a passion for exercising all code paths to ensure our products behave the way they were intended to.

What You’ll Bring * BS degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar * 2+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or SDET with an emphasis on Object-Oriented C++ development and automation.

* Experience and passion to develop high quality code – writing unit, functional, and system tests for verification and validation of your product code.

* A passion for quality and finding bugs.

You will be writing test automation either in C++ or Python or both.

* A team-first attitude.

We’re a team where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts * Knowledge of C++ is required.

* Knowledge of writing automation in scripting languages such as Python is required.

* Ability to contribute in all areas of the software development process, including software design, new-feature development, test planning, testing, automation, debugging/problem diagnosis, and quality.

* Flexibility to contribute to different components of the endpoint product, such as system services, instrumentation, installers and, occasionally, user-interface.

* Passion for building high-quality products, experience with test planning, test-driven development, and a “test-first” mentality.

* Develop and support internal tools for our build, test, and CI/CD infrastructure * Comfortable working with complex, mission-critical systems.

* Fluency in approaches to security, concurrency, debugging, performance, scalability, supportability and quality.

* Strong demonstrable track record of technical curiosity and technical flexibility/agility.

What You’ll Do * Leverage C++/Python programming and automation experience to drive quality on the Windows endpoint * Plan, design, develop, document and test multiple features through the complete software development lifecycle * Analyze, isolate and resolve problems in product software with little or no guidance.

* Plan and schedule work and tasks across multiple features, manage dependencies, change and risk.

* Continuously improve customer experience, quality, performance, and stability of the existing products * Contribute to code reviews and give constructive, high-quality feedback.

* Participate in Agile development processes and become a true team citizen.
