You love working in a collaborative team, but are also comfortable digging into a project solo.

As a senior, you can juggle multiple projects to a high degree of efficiency and you demonstrate proficient technical skills in a variety of tax and accounting areas.

You foster strong relationships with the staff who work with you on your engagements, and you are comfortable providing feedback – both positive and constructive.

You want to grow your career to a manager level, or maybe even beyond that.The Nuts and BoltsCandidates at this level are CPAs or working to become a CPA, and typically have been working as an experienced staff for 3+ years.

Candidates will be expected to:Work collaboratively with all levels of staff on client engagementsWork with less experienced staff on multiple engagements simultaneously, and provide feedback on their workPossess technical knowledge sufficient to supervise staff accountants, and evaluate their progress when appropriateContinue to develop quality client relations, and begin to recognize opportunities to provide additional services to clientsMaintain knowledge of general economic and political trends of possible tax or other legislation that could affect the business climate, particularly as it relates to manufacturing and distributionHave an innate curiosity about tax code sections, case law, and its application to businessesBe proficient at tax research including the ability to draft research memorandums that clearly present the facts, the issues at hand, the conclusion and the supporting factorsAssume responsibility for the supervision and completion of routine tax return preparation engagements, including ability to set timelines, budgets and manage client expectationsAdditional duties as requested.

Requirements:What you need2 or more years’ experience in general tax, preferably with at least 1 year working withmanufacturing and/or distribution clientsStrong knowledge of common book tax timing difference, such as those related to accruals, reserves, inventory and deferred revenueStrong knowledge of fixed asset accounting and depreciation methodsIntermediate knowledge of State and Local tax concepts around nexus, apportionment and other compliance related issuesIntermediate knowledge of income tax provision concepts and calculationsIntermediate knowledge of accounting method changes Including reparation of form 3115’sKnowledge of tax basis conceptsIntermediate understanding of business flow through entity taxation, including s-corporation and partnership tax review skillsUnderstanding of business flow through entity taxation, including s-corporation and partnership tax review skillsStrong analytical skills and an ability to identify and work through potential issuesStrong Excel skillsStrong research skills (RIA Checkpoint, BNA, etc.)Strong leadership and organization skills required for multiple engagementsStrong written and verbal communications skillsA strong drive to provide exceed clients’ service expectations and a drive to build trust with clients by developing relationships through in-person meetings, phone calls, and prompt responses to their requestsAbility to give and receive both positive and constructive feedbackBachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; advanced degree in tax is a plusExperience with Caseware and ProFx a plusCertified public accountant or in the process of becoming oneBenefits and PerksOur close knit, team-centric culture is a great place to grow your career – and you don’t need to live at work to do that.
