WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Our mission is to “Bring ideas to Life”. We’re looking for an innovative and curious Sr. Concept Engineer to combine their point of view, problem-solving abilities, and experience to help build the next era of Nike Products. If you have a passion for footwear making, digital tools and problems solving this role would be a phenomenal fit! The right candidate will use their knowledge, strategic thinking and collaborative skills to deliver creative solutions for a wide range of end uses. Specifically, through the use of digital methods of making that will enable new unfound opportunity in performance improvements and overall product design impact. The candidate needs to be a results-oriented problem solver from jaw-dropping conceptualization to manufacturing.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION INCLUDE:

–  Digital Product design experience or related courses.

–  Full Spectrum knowledge of 3D modeling and rendering (i.e. Rhino, Grasshopper)

–  Full Spectrum knowledge of 2D presentation software (Adobe CS)

–  Full Spectrum Knowledge of print technologies.

–  Comfort level across all shop tools, both traditional (i.e. table saw, lathe, etc.) and new (CNC mill, 3D printer, laser cutter) for prototyping. Willingness to seek out and experiment with new technologies. 

–  Possesses a clear understanding in all stitching applications.

–  Work experience, typically in footwear engineering, development, and or production.

–  Possesses a clear understanding and proven working knowledge on Pattern Engineering, Model making, part drawings, 2D and 3D drafting documentations, materials, design for manufacturing.

–  Solid understanding of processes to interpret digital files and print onto synthetic and textile materials crafting physical components used in concept creation.

–  Robust verbal and written communication skills

–  Ability to share and present ideas and develop effective responses or elevate specific concerns to team and or management

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

YOU WILL EXPLORE IDEAS IN NIKE FOOTWEAR INNOVATION. YOU’LL TRANSLATE DESIGN INSPIRATIONS INTO A 3-DIMENSIONAL PRODUCT THROUGH DIGITAL METHODS OF MAKING AND TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENTS.

THIS RESEARCH WILL ENABLE COLLABORATION WITH OUR PRODUCT CREATION TEAM PARTNERS TO DEVELOP AND COMMERCIALIZE PRODUCTS GROUNDED IN SUSTAINABILITY FOR OUR NIKE CONSUMER.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will report to the Footwear Concept Creation Center team (CCC) and support our partners within the Nike Explore Team (NXT) including key collaborations with NXT, Sport Research Lab, Advance Product Creation Center.

YOU WILL NEED TO WORK OPTIMALLY WITHIN THE FOOTWEAR CONCEPT ENGINEER TEAM TO ENSURE A THOUGHTFUL APPROACH TO ENGINEER AND DEVELOPING NEW METHODS OF MAKING PRIORITIZED IN COLLABORATION WITH MULTI-FUNCTIONAL PARTNERS.

 


WHAT YOU BRING

–  Bachelor’s degree Design, Industrial Engineering or related field.

–  Or two additional years’ experience in lieu of a degree.

–  Minimum of 5 years of experience relevant to manufacturing or design that is centered around a computer system ( Adobe Illustrator, Photo Shop, Grasshopper for Rhino 3D, Houdini, Scriptographer and or other comparable Generative design tools)

–  Excellent understanding of the Footwear/Apparel design and development process from inception through final adoption.
