Work with existing CIS members to explain all benefit plans and options, resolve benefits issues, reconcile accounts, be a liaison between carriers, vendors, and members, conduct meetings with members and employees to explain benefits, options, and choices.

Communicate policies; train member staff; help maintain and train members on CIS’ enrollment system.

Promote CIS products and services to current and new members; provide input on procedures and policies as to how they will best meet the needs of the organization and members with a balance to cost and time constraints.May help facilitate wellness activities for CIS members.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Temporary modifications to provide reasonable accommodations, or transitional work assignments do not waive any of the essential functions for this position.Driver LicenseThe ability to drive is an essential job function, and it is related to a business purpose.The following information may not be all-inclusive:Employee BenefitsRespond to telephone inquiries from members or employees to address questions concerning plans, policies, and coverage issues.

Research and resolve member problems and handle disputes as appropriate.Meet with a subset of members annually to educate them on CIS’ benefits, processes, services, and any outstanding issues they have.Initiate on-site or phone contact with new member reps responsible for benefits administration to provide education on resources, websites, contact info, etc.Identify and conduct research on special projects where outcomes are intended to enhance member services or promote CIS.Conduct on-site or webinar presentations to current and/or potential members.Research and resolve system issues, benefit issues, carrier issues, and enrollment issues by knowing and utilizing internal and external resources, reports, and programs.Reconcile billing errors for members, identify needed correction(s), and either make necessary corrections to the enrollment system or enter manual adjustments to correct the problem on the next billing cycle.

Communicate in-person verbally by phone, or in writing to members and employee groups: Changes to benefits, market forces, overall market conditions, basic insurance concepts, rating, and benefits, and how to access the coverages.

Process online enrollment/termination events and other status changes on behalf of large members or employees, when necessary.Process online events (e.G., new hires, terminations, salary increases, etc.) on behalf of assigned small members who don’t have access to the enrollment system.Review and approve/deny required documentation provided by employees within five business days.Represent CIS at various fairs, conferences, and seminars.Member WellnessMay help host the CIS Wellness Academy every other year,May help provide on-site or webinar presentations to members considering implementing a wellness program.May help provide ongoing education and support to members currently offering a wellness program.May help coordinate health fair scheduling and theme with participating CIS vendors on behalf of members.

Attend health fairs as requested.May process wellness grants.Open EnrollmentParticipate in Member Open Enrollment Training meetings.Answer the open enrollment hotline number.Conduct employee open enrollment meetings for members, as requested.Review Request for Coverage (RFC) to identify member changes.

Track changes on spreadsheet to share with carriers and to update online enrollment system.Create and post/distribute packet of electronic open enrollment materials to members.Other DutiesTrain members who have access to CIS’ enrollment system.Review instructions/manuals that support training.Special research projects to assist various processes around office.Assist in developing policies and procedures and participate in meetings for general FBU operations.EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, CERTIFICATES, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:Education and experience requirements listed are minimum standards.

Other equivalent combinations of education, certifications, training, and experience may be considered.Education: Bachelor’s degree.Knowledge: The position requires strong interpersonal, public speaking and communication skills; math and basic accounting; federal and state laws governing insurance and ethics.

Must be proficient in the following applications: Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook, and modern internet browsers such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Edge, etc.

Must be able to exercise sound judgment in providing services to members and potential new members.Certificates: None.Certifications: None.Licenses: Valid driver’s license; employee must maintain a safe driving record while employed with CIS.Experience:Minimum of five years.Insurance and marketing experience required, along with specialized training in regulations pertaining to products (e.G., COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA/OFLA and other state/federal laws governing or impacting employee benefits): Minimum of 5 years.Customer Services Representative: Minimum of 3 years customer service experience is needed to perform the primary duties of this position.

Experience adds to ability to quickly isolate, research if necessary, problem solve, and answer questions.Marketing Representative: Minimum of 5 years’ experience is needed to effectively present and format materials to the member’s or employee’s needs.

Recognize questions and possess knowledge to ferret out details to answer questions.Insurance Industry Representative: Minimum of 5 years’ experience is needed to read and interpret policy language and to review policy language for correct intent and communicability; make presentations to members, union groups, governing body, and other employee groups.
