The role: This systems analyst will assist in the design, development and operations of large and complex systems.

This position will have an opportunity to work on exciting projects at ODOT that includes implementing vendor solutions, developing new systems and system enhancements.

A day in the life:Systems AnalystAnalyze and document business needs and requirements for development or procurement of software that changes/re-engineers a business process.Lead or perform testing at all levels appropriate for the project.Ensures that project team analyzes impacts of security configurations / compatibility concerns and system audit capabilities.Systems DesignOversee design of system and program narratives, charts, diagrams, record layouts, reports, screens, files, etc.Collaborate with system architect on large-size and complex projects, which have a high-level of coordination between customers, partners, and stakeholders.Responsible for system designs that potential span multiple locations and mixed technological environments.Coordinate and plan migration from multiple locations to a centralized processing centers.Evaluate System OptionsEvaluate and recommend new solutions (upgrades, migrations, and/or new system) for assigned projects.Develop and recommend cost and time estimates and/or performance factors for accomplishing the alternatives.Evaluate new industry products, approaches and technology directions with focus on how these integrate in ODOT’s technology.Assess compatibility issues and recommend options for system upgrades.Develop Technical trainingDevelop and conduct formal training for users and data processing staff.TroubleshootDiagnose user problems.Identify corrupt or problematic data issues for mission critical systems; evaluate and execute actions to resolve errors as needed.Diagnose and troubleshoot network problems.Manage project tasks with conflicting requirements and tight deadlines.Occasionally work irregular hours (i.E., weekends, holidays, nights and travel).

What we need:Six (6) years of information systems experience managing projects at the expert level for multiple large-sized projects or systems.ORAn associate’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field or completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field AND Four (4) years of information systems experience managing projects at the expert level for multiple large-sized projects or systems.ORA bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or related field ANDTwo (2) years of information systems experience managing projects at the expert level for multiple large-sized projects or systems.ORA master’s degree in information technology, computer science or related field may substitute for all of the above.

You will be required to use a vehicle to conduct business.

You must possess and maintain a valid driver license and acceptable driving record.

Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
