The Director, Construction Performance Management role within our construction department leadership group is responsible for the forecasts and projections of all critical construction business metrics including but not limited to TOR, Revenue, Margin, Cash, and EBIT per project and consolidated based on business needs. Provides intuitive and strategic direction of all construction business lines, assess risk and business impact. Coordinates all improvement and process efficiency initiatives, works closely with global and other SBUs to increase business productivity and efficiencies. Provides strategic and tactical leadership/direction to a staff of project controllers, analysts, program managers, and coordinators to support business data flow and needs. Develops strategic plans to reduce operating costs, increase efficiency and automate support systems.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the portfolio data analysis and reporting from the sales phase thru production allocation, transportation, and delivery to construction sites.
  • Develops and delivers construction metrics and KPIs to P&L designed to simplify decisions, inform stakeholders and evaluate optional solutions. Works closely with finance to gather data and present it in an intuitive fashion.
  • Evaluates, designs, builds, and maintains data and business systems for the construction organization. Evaluates current systems and determines improvements, automates and simplifies tools and systems to reduce overhead costs and simplify the user interface.
  • Develops a culture of Change, utilizes change management and change leadership to effectively rollout initiatives, and continuously evolve the construction organization.
  • Establishes a team that models Vestas’ values and high standards of performance. Coaches, mentors and develops leadership within the team and across functional teams. Understands the personal development needs of each leader and balances that with the business needs of the organization. Continues to elevate responsibility and administration authority of the team.
  • Builds and maintains a highly effective data analytics team, project controllers team, and program management team. Ensures the team is flexible, engaged, and connected to the business. Ensures team is able to react to ad-hoc needs while maintaining business operating metrics and promoting long term strategic change.
  • Develops and regularly improves complete business metric package, able to drill down to project level detail and consolidate based on business lines and needs. The package should be real-time weekly, monthly and quarterly. Coordinates across teams to create user-friendly tools and systems to enable business decisions.
  • Ensures project and construction systems are in place to optimize project performance and customer experience.
  • Develops and maintains project-level reporting designed for customer interface and communications. Increases the professional level of the organization while simplifying business communications thru standard packages and systems.
  • Establishes a highly effective, flexible, responsive Performance Management Office that strategically plans and executes based on customer and business needs.
  • Utilizes data to make decisions while maintaining the highest levels of integrity.
  • Partners with other functional teams to provide necessary support and solutions for all construction projects. Continuously looks for opportunities to lean out activities and simplify the overall operating model.
  • Provides effective leadership that achieves a highly aligned, the engaged, and motivated team producing high-level results against Key Performance Indicators and operational goals. Builds a team atmosphere across regions to align goals and simplify choices.
  • Establishes and maintains highly effective relationships with global support teams including finance, IT, and service information systems.
  • Is the change SME, causing real impact for other teams and functions, develops new approaches, and promote cultural change through the implementation of process improvements
  • All other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree in Engineering, Project Management, or Business Administration or other related field or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education. Masters’ degree preferred.
  • 6 – 8 years of progressive leadership experience in a global organization
  • 6 – 8 years of management experience from a construction or energy industry;
  • Good, proven project and program management skills. Ability to develop, plan, and implement strategic short- and long-range goals.
  • Effective team leadership skills with the ability to facilitate a cooperative work environment, motivate, and coach
  • Extensive employee development, coaching, and mentoring skills with a focus on leadership development.
  • Solid social and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of business units in a global organization.
  • Proven proficiency in analysis and problem solving
  • Ability to develop and facilitate positive relationships among internal leadership and external providers.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a significant, ever-growing, and results-oriented environment; handle constant change with ease and flexibility. Highly organized and able to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Professional technical, scientific, and quantitative skills.
  • Able to complete responsibilities in a timely, professional, and quality manner
  • Solve problems methodically, utilize data and understand all variables; search out relevant information and gauge its importance when making decisions
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; able to express oneself clearly and in technical and non-technical terms
  • Ability to influence across organizational boundaries / with a solid focus on working with & understanding different cultures
  • Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Proven leadership that achieves highly engaged and motivated project teams that consistently meet and exceed KPI expectations.
