WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Lead Engineering Program Manager for Nike Smart Systems is responsible for providing technical program leadership, working with internal and external multi-disciplinary resource teams to ensure key program deliverables are accurately integrated and completed. They drive informed decision making within the framework of Nike’s product creation processes. They’ll be responsible for building and maintaining multiple master program schedules, tracking resource needs, mitigating risks, and reporting project financials. They’ll ensure project momentum continually moves forward at an efficient pace on all fronts and mentor cross-functional teams as necessary to follow informed project decision-making processes that result in effective risk mitigation and impactful scope change assessments.

The candidate needs to have outstanding communication, troubleshooting, time-management, and analytical skills; in addition to validated full life-cycle hardware program management experience in the consumer electronics industry. The ideal candidate will also have a history with wireless charging, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

In this role, you’ll lead a large multi-disciplined engineering team and be required to:

  • Provide significant experience in leading multi-disciplinary engineering program teams, with a focus on consumer electronics, including wireless charging systems.
  • Drive prototype and manufacturing build plans, executed domestically and internationally
  • Demonstrate understanding and practice in core project management skills including schedule management, issue and risk management, and meeting facilitation.
  • Lead with deep knowledge of product development processes to ensure all programs are completed on time, proven to meet or exceed product requirements, and fully coordinated within the Nike Go to Market processes.
  • Drive coordinated cross-functional program team cohesion and effective teamwork across internal and external project team members.
  • Define and map the crucial informative inputs that allow integrated technical program teams, partners, and leadership to make informed decisions and align on the most critical program success criteria.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in vendor engagement practices, proposal evaluation processes, contract negotiation techniques, directing scope of work at highest value proposition levels, and ultimately successful delivery of contracted scope of work.
  • Proactively interface directly with Legal/Contracts and Purchasing/Sourcing teams as required to support program.
  • Collaborate with Nike Asia Manufacturing and Operations team to drive continuous cost improvements.
  • Apply “positive skepticism” with appropriate consideration and weighting of company goals against the objectives of the team and program deliverables, especially when coaching engineering program teams through complex issues.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

As Lead Engineering Program Manager for Nike Smart Systems, you’ll be reporting to the Nike Smart Systems Director of Engineering Program Management. You’ll work with a team of other highly skilled Engineering Program Directors and Managers and will lead the offense of our cross-functional engineering teams. You’ll interface with and lead our external engineering partners, working towards program goals, as well as our Asia based factory contract manufacturers. You’ll work within the broader Nike ecosystem to align priorities among our footwear, apparel and digital teams.


WHAT YOU BRING

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field, additional experience accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 7 years of work experience in hardware engineering program management. PMP a plus.
  • Proven full life-cycle hardware program management leadership experience in the consumer electronics or medical industry.
  • Knowledge of wireless technologies, such as wireless charging, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi
  • Significant experience working with Asia based factory partners
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented perspective with a history of solving unique, sophisticated problems that have a broad, inter-connected impact on the business.
  • Significant experience with execution and delivery using common engineering tools, triage, tracking, and reporting.
